AI: The Good, The Bad & The Possibilities

    An Interactive Exploration with Dhanya

Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we communicate, learn, and navigate everyday life. But what can it really do, how can we use it wisely, and what should we be aware of along the way?

Join Dhanya for a fun, informative, and hands-on introduction to AI, designed to help you explore this evolving technology with curiosity and confidence.

Through live demonstrations, you'll discover how AI can simplify everyday tasks, such as making sense of a confusing letter, helping you express your thoughts, or writing a heartfelt message.

Then it's your turn! Using AI on your smartphone, you'll explore how technology can help you capture a personal story or treasured memory to share with future generations.

We'll also look at the other side of AI: why it sometimes gives convincing but incorrect answers, how scammers use technology to imitate voices and messages, and simple ways to recognize potential risks.

And perhaps the most important discovery? Technology may be advancing rapidly, but it still needs something only you can bring: a lifetime of experience, perspective, and wisdom.

Whether you're completely new to AI or have already begun experimenting, this class offers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and discover new possibilities.

    What You'll Need

For the best experience, please have two devices available:

    • Computer or tablet: To join the Zoom class and watch the demonstrations.

    • Smartphone: With the free ChatGPT app installed and an account created before class, so you can participate in the hands-on activity.

    Also have ready:

    • Internet connection and access to Zoom (through the app or web browser)

    • Speakers or headphones (microphone optional)

    • An email address

    • Fully charged devices or access to power

Reading glasses, a pen, and paper may also be helpful.

A Little Extra Help Before Class

New to ChatGPT or need help getting started?

Dhanya will be available 30 minutes before class to help participants get set up and feel comfortable with the technology.

Everyone will also receive a one-page, large-print takeaway sheet to keep as a handy reference after the class.

    Class Duration: 60 minutes

    CREATING WE

    Generations of Women in Conversation

    Explore • Share • Connect

When was the last time a conversation surprised you? Made you laugh? Changed your mind? Or helped you discover something new about yourself?

Welcome to Creating WE! An exciting CAW initiative bringing women of different generations together to share stories, explore perspectives, and discover the possibilities of genuine conversation.

Inspired by Creating WE: A Field Guide to Generations of Women in Conversation, introduced at CAW's recent retreat, these gatherings use juicy questions and conversation starters to take us beyond everyday small talk.

    Together, we'll explore three opportunities:

DISCOVER YOURSELF: Explore the experiences that have shaped your beliefs, values, and unique perspective.

DISCOVER OTHERS: Step outside your familiar circles, challenge assumptions, and discover unexpected common ground with women of different generations.

CREATE CONNECTIONS: Learn to ask thoughtful questions, listen with curiosity, and build connections that extend beyond our gatherings.

And along the way? Expect laughter, surprises, fresh perspectives, and new friendships!

    Come Join the Adventure!

Bring a woman from another generation—perhaps 10 or 20 years older or younger—or come on your own!

Your conversation guides are Kaye Chatterton, age 84, and Meg Randle, a vibrant youngster in her early 60s. Together, they bring more than 140 years of life experience—and they're still learning!

Our Journey Begins November 12, 2026!

    • When: Monthly on Thursdays, beginning November 12

    • Time: 6:00 PM Mountain Time

    • Where: Zoom

    • Duration: Approximately 1½–2 hours

To encourage rich conversations across generations, space is limited. Registrations will be reviewed to create a diverse intergenerational group, with a waiting list available if needed.

Come share your stories, discover new perspectives, and connect with some amazing women who are waiting to get to know you!

    Wisdom has no age requirement.

    Bookshelf Treasures

Featured book: Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

    Anxious People — Fredrik Backman
    Humor, humanity, and shared imperfection

What begins as an ordinary apartment open house quickly turns into something completely unexpected when a desperate bank robber takes a group of strangers hostage. Trapped together are people who seem very different on the surface — a struggling couple, expectant parents, a lonely elder, a driven businesswoman, a real estate agent trying to hold everything together, and others each carrying private worries, disappointments, and longings.

As the hours unfold, the masks people wear begin to fall away. Hidden griefs, fears, regrets, and tenderness slowly emerge, revealing that none of them are quite who they first appeared to be. Even the bank robber is not simply a villain, but another human being searching for relief, connection, and hope.

With humor and deep compassion, Anxious People explores the beautifully messy reality of being human. It reminds us how often people are carrying invisible burdens, doing the best they can while longing to be understood. Through unexpected friendships and moments of honesty, the story gently points toward forgiveness, grace, and the healing power of connection.

For our circle, this novel offers both laughter and reflection as we explore imperfection, shared humanity, and the ways we sometimes rescue one another without even realizing it.

    Bookshelf Treasures

Featured book: Still Life by Sarah Winman

Connection, beauty, and integration of a full year

Still Life is a sweeping, tender story about the unexpected ways lives become intertwined through love, loss, friendship, and art. Set against the backdrop of wartime Italy and post-war London, it follows a young soldier whose chance encounter with an art historian in a Tuscan cellar during World War II quietly changes the course of his life.

In the midst of destruction, something enduring is formed — a connection that carries forward through decades, shaping who he becomes and how he understands belonging. Back in London, life continues in a circle of friends and chosen family, full of eccentricity, humor, and everyday beauty, even as memories of Italy remain alive within him.

When the past calls him back to Tuscany years later, he is invited to reconnect with the places, people, and moments that first opened his heart to a different way of seeing the world.

For our circle, Still Life offers a reflection on how love, art, and friendship shape us across time. It is a reminder that even in times of upheaval, beauty persists — and that the connections we form can become the quiet foundation of a life fully lived.

    Bookshelf Treasures

Featured book: These Truths by Jill Lepore

A reflection on history and the shaping of a nation

In These Truths, Jill Lepore invites us into a sweeping exploration of the American story — not just the events that shaped the nation, but the deeper questions underneath them. Through history, journalism, politics, and the voices of both celebrated and overlooked people, she examines the ongoing tension between the ideals America was founded upon and the realities people have lived.

This is not simply a history book filled with dates and facts. It is an inquiry into truth itself: How do we know what is true? What happens when truth becomes distorted? And how do we, as citizens and human beings, participate in shaping the future through understanding the past?

Lepore reminds us that America has always been a land of contradictions — built from both courage and conquest, freedom and oppression, hope and division. Yet she also suggests that the willingness to honestly engage with those contradictions is part of the work of democracy and community.

For our circle, this optional September reading offers an opportunity to reflect together on inheritance, responsibility, and the stories that shape collective identity. Rather than seeking one “correct” interpretation, we approach this book with curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to listen deeply to history and to one another.

We invite you to join Ann MacKenzie on an eight-month journey of exploring our individual chakra system together.  Each month, we will learn about a different chakra--discussing our experience, connecting to that chakra, meditating and activating it together.  Ann see's this as a learning class, as we participate, we support each other in our group and individual growth and understanding.

For years Ann has wanted to gain a deeper understanding of her chakras and just recently, she has decided to move forward with this goal.  You are invited to join us as we explore together.

The classes are designed so that we meet on Thursdays for 2 hours:

Class 5: February 18 - Understanding the Heart Chakra

Class 6: March 18 - Understanding the Throat Chakra

Class 7: April 15 - Understanding the Third Eye Chakra

Class 8: May 20 - Understanding the Crown Chakra

Note: The classes will continue through all the chakras into our new year 2027 meeting on Thursdays (usually the 3rd week of the month unless otherwise noted) and culminating in May.  It is not necessary to be in every class.
